SportAccord Combat Games NEWS
Combat Games Committee Plenary Session in Lausanne
The last plenary session of the year for the SportAccord Combat Games was held on November 15th in Lausanne (SUI) at the Maison du Sport International (MSI). Headed by the members of the Combat Games Committee, the meeting was attended by representatives of the participating sports and the Beijing Organizing Committee.
Almost 8 months after the Denver meeting and the signing of the host city contract for the 2010 SportAccord Combat Games, all the concerned parties were reconvened to discuss the progress of the event's preparations.
The Beijing Organizing Committee presented the International Federations (IF) with an update on venues, event services, and the ongoing marketing & promotion plan. Following the presentations, various aspects of the event's sports programme and services were reviewed with the IF, including the format of the participating disciplines, competition & training schedules, qualification systems, and registration procedures. The meeting was concluded after a round table discussion addressing the questions, remarks and concerns of the IF.
In addition to summing up the achievements of the past months, the meeting also set the ground for the upcoming months until the opening of the event. All the participants are firmly committed to one common goal - the success of the 2010 SportAccord Combat Games. IFMA is represented in the SportAccord Martial Art and Combat Commission by Stephan Fox.

SportAccord was represented by Mr. Ching-Kuo Wu, President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) and IOC member. Combat Games New Emblem and Official Website Revealed!
27 November 2009 Press Release
The emblem and the official website of the 2010 SportAccord Combat Games were unveiled this week during a grand ceremony held on November 24, 2009 at the Qinle Palace in Beijing (CHN), hosted by the 2010 Combat Games Preparatory Committee.
The Unveiling Ceremony was held in the presence of the Presidents and key figures of the Organizing Committee, representatives of the Beijing Municipal Government, Chinese sports authorities, the event's sponsors and partners, media friends and the local organizers.
The emblem, featured above, is based on the concept worked out by Mr. Wang Yigong, from the Henan Provincial Fine Arts Academy, and redesigned by Mr. Liu Bo, who had previously elaborated the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games emblem. It features two essential elements of Chinese tradition, the drum and the 'blue and white porcelain' pattern. The drum is the musical instrument that represents and celebrates happiness whereas 'China' procelain embodies the millennial Chinese culture. These two elements are blended flawlessly, symbolizing a 'dancing drum in the East,' but also the rotation of the Earth empowered by the 13 SportAccord Combat Games participating sports. The diagrams of each of the 13 sports are harmoniously combined to form the official emblem.
The event's official website www.beijing2010.org was also launched during the ceremony in Beijing. Available for the moment only in Chinese, it will soon be running in English too. It contains all the latest news on the 2010 SportAccord Combat Games, practical information, and a multi-media section.
The 2010 SportAccord Combat Games will take place in Beijing (CHN) from 27 August to 4 September. Over 1,500 atheletes and delegates from 13 International Martial Arts and Combat Sports Federations, both Olympic and non-Olympic, will participate in this worldwide event. The featured sports will be: Aikido, Boxing, Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Karate, Kendo, Kickboxing, Muaythai, Sambo, Sumo, Taekwondo, Wrestling and Wushu.
